Podcast: ‘Chaos in de Orde’
Creativity remains surrounded by a hint of mystery. Is it something intuitive? Does it arise from emotion? Is wisdom in your hands or in your head? Do you need to create beautiful things with it, or do you need to be smart and analytical?
Katrina is a lecturer at the TU Delft. She teaches students about creativity and conducts research on it. She promotes creativity because it has been proven to be effective. Research supports this, and Katrina gladly incorporates the available evidence into her approach.
A very logical approach to creativity. For Katrina, creativity and effectiveness are closely related. Just like chaos and order. However, it was also a journey for her. Using creativity without logic leads to resistance. But using creativity solely based on logic does too.
Finding the right approach to creativity turns out to be more personal than initially thought. As a co-author of the book ‘101 Ideas for Ideas,’ Katrina helps others, like herself, find their own personal entry point.

Creativiteit blijft omgeven door een zweem van mysterie. Is het iets intuïtiefs? Ontstaat het vanuit emotie? Zit de wijsheid in je handen, of in je hoofd? Moet je er mooie dingen voor kunnen maken, of moet je er slim en analytisch voor zijn?
Katrina Heijne is docent aan de TU delft. Ze geeft studenten les in creativiteit en doet er onderzoek naar. Ze zet creativiteit aan, omdat het bewezen effectief is. Onderzoek toont dit aan en Katrina zet het bewijs dat voorhanden is graag in, in haar aanpak.
Een heel logische benadering van creativiteit. Voor Katrina liggen creativiteit en effectiviteit heel dicht bij elkaar. Net als chaos en orde.Toch was het ook voor haar een zoektocht. Creativiteit inzetten zonder logica leidt tot weerstand. Maar creativiteit inzetten vanuit logica alleen ook.
Het zoeken naar de juiste ingang voor creativiteit blijkt persoonlijker te zijn dan gedacht. Als co-auteur van het boek 101 ideeen voor ideeen helpt Katrina anderen om -net als zij- hun eigen persoonlijke ingang te vinden.
