In this talk, İdil Gaziulusoy will present her work in the Visions and Pathways 2040: Visions, Scenarios and Pathways for Transitioning to Low-carbon Futures in Australian Cities project (2013-2016). VP2040 was conceptualised as a design-research-engagement project to provide strategic input for the Low-carbon Living thematic cluster of Co-operative Research Centre to prioritise research directions to assist Australia to reduce its carbon emissions by 80% while increasing resilience of cities to locked-in impacts of climate change. The project utilized design-led, transdisciplinary approaches for imagining desirable futures for Australian cities in 2040 and, developed and analysed pathways implicated by each of the four scenarios.

İdil Gaziulusoy is a sustainability scientist and a design researcher, currently Assistant Professor of Sustainable Design and leader of NODUS Sustainable Design Research Group at Aalto University, Finland. İdil’s research is situated at the intersections of long-term sustainability transformations, design and innovation research and futures studies. In her empirical work she focuses on urban transitions to post-carbon futures and transformative sustainability innovation in business. She has lived and worked in Turkey, New Zealand and Australia before moving to Finland in 2016.
