Background

As part of the PROMISE project, the Data-Centric Design lab collaborates with Erasmus MC to explore how to support the quality of life of people surviving colorectal cancer. Recovering from cancer is a long and challenging process requiring continuous monitoring and regular checkups over a minimal period of five years. Earlier this year, we initiated the design of an app as a vehicle for the interaction between cancer survivors and healthcare providers. We aim to explore the opportunities of available patient data to provide them with supportive information.

Aim

In this project, you will further design and evaluate this app. Gaining an understanding of the data collected and its purpose in the medical field, you will explore what and how this data can be used to support the quality of life of people who have survived cancer. We expect several levels of information complexity and multiple ways do deliver feedback from this data depending on the person and their situation developing over time. As part of an iterative prototyping process, you will map out these layers, envisioning techniques to adapt the interface to show supportive information while avoiding information overload. You will have a unique opportunity to interact with patients, medical experts, and technology experts to assess your work as part of the PROMISE consortium. If successful, your design will be incorporated into the PROMISE clinical trial which aims to support cancer survivors.

Profile

You are a Design for Interaction student. You are passionate about healthcare and eager to support people in regaining quality of life after cancer. You have experience designing digital interfaces, and you look forward to interacting with people who have survived cancer.
