Engaging Healthcare Professionals in Creating Data Exchange Systems to Support Meaningful Use
The Dutch healthcare system is facing increasing pressure to improve efficiency and quality while reducing costs. One key strategy is the standardization of digital data exchange, starting with the Basic Data Set for Healthcare (BgZ). The Ministry of Health, Welfare, and Sport (VWS), healthcare institutions, Nictiz, and other stakeholders are working together on this initiative. However, challenges remain in creating a system that is truly user-friendly.
This report highlights how balancing power among stakeholders is essential to achieving success. In particular, the relationship between healthcare professionals and their software suppliers must be carefully managed. Empowering healthcare professionals to influence the development of meaningful and practical software solutions is critical for making the system work effectively.
