Heartbead: Do-Not-Resuscitate-Me
ongoing
The project by Viviane Westgeest addresses the challenge how elderly can communicate in a trustful way to rescue workers that they do not want to be resuscitated.
For elderly being resuscitated often leads to a poor quality of life, Also, many elderly do not want to be resuscitated. A tattoo, a bracelet or an amulet are not trustworthy enough: rescue workers do not have the confidence that it is actually what the person wants in that moment. The heartbead is a rfid tag carried by the elderly, programmed by the elderly’s GP, that, when detected by the equipment of the rescue workers gives a ‘do not resuscitate’ message.
