In my postdoc research, I examine how the phenomenon of worker-robot relations can address labor shortages and boost productivity, while also presenting socio-technical challenges such as worker disengagement and asymmetrical power dynamics. My work develops a transdisciplinary framework that leverages speculative design to engage workers as co-creators in shaping just and meaningful futures of work. By focusing on the task dimension, this research empowers workers to contribute their expertise and actively shape their evolving relationship with technology.

How can we design a ball-shaped robot as partner for paediatric physiotherapists?

Imagine you have a pair of shoes that warns you for a shuffle gait, motivates you to lift your feet higher, counts your steps to stimulate you to keep moving and warns you for fall risks in your environment. How can users interact with smart shoes? What kind of feedback do they appreciate? Does this contribute to decrease fall risk or fear of falling? Does it motivate the users to walk more, to improve mobility and stamina?
