The Labs

Develop the behavioral repertoire of the robot cart, including movement and multimodal communication capabilities, aligned with a graphical user interface.

This overarching design research project explores a significant opportunity in the professional painting industry through the development of a robot cart. The project is a collaboration between Industrial Design Engineering, SUSAG, OnderhoudNL and RoboHouse, with the further involvement of renowned Dutch design agencies.

Earlier research with Master’s and graduation students led to the development of a concept for a robot cart, which is currently being prototyped at RoboHouse. We intend to further develop and refine this concept in collaboration with you.

The aim of this project is to develop the behavioral repertoire of the robot cart, including movement and multimodal communication capabilities, integrated with a graphical user interface. This will allow us to explore autonomous behavior and interactivity that are appropriate and useful for its functioning within professional work contexts, particularly in interaction with professional painters.
